The parliament of Ghana has directed the Minister of Defense to with immediate effect, withdraw the military personnel assisting with the installation of prepaid meters at the lower Manya Krobo municipal in the Eastern Region.
This immediate and quick directive was raised and given by the second Deputy speaker of parliament, honourable Andrew Amoako Asiamah after parliament sat on Friday, June 24th 2022.
This comes after the member of parliament for the area, Honorable Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi raised the matter on the floor of the house, indicating that the presence of the military men is heightening tension in the various communities.
“We are also directing that the Minister for Defence withdraws the military attaché in the area for the time being for us to address certain matters, I so direct.”
The military men are expected to stop the activity with immediate effect and allow those responsible for the installation to also get work to do.
