It’s Time To Ban Assault Weapons – Joe Bidden. POTUS continues to advocate for the outlawing of all assault weapons in the nation. Yesterday, September 24, Vice President Biden tweeted, “It’s time we outlaw assault rifles in this country.” The tweet follows the speech he gave in Pennsylvania last month in which he highlighted the same objectives.
In his remarks, the 79-year-old man stated, “I’m committed to making assault rifles illegal in our nation. Determined. I’ve done it before. And I’ll repeat it “He was referring to the prohibition that he implemented as a senator in the 1990s.
He went on, “I want to be clear for the majority of you at home. It is not intended to take away anyone’s firearms. In fact, we ought to hold up good gun owners as models for how every gun owner ought to behave.”
During his speech, Biden also gave figures, noting that just last year, approximately 50,000 Americans lost their lives to gunshot wounds. In addition, over 30,000 people committed suicide.
The National Rifle Association, or NRA, was also criticized by the President. The American gun rights organization was established in 1871 and has advocated for the right to bear arms while also educating the public about firearm safety. “Republicans in Congress overwhelmingly voted against [the NRA], preserving lives and ensuring the security of the country. But what’s this? We defeated the NRA, and now we’ll defeat them once more. And we triumphed and shall triumph once more. We’re not going to stop here.”
