3-Year-Old Boy Dies After Aunt Allegedly Threw Him in Lake Michigan and Watched Him Sink. Around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Josiah Brown was pronounced dead. The 3-year-old Illinois kid who allegedly spent more than 30 minutes underwater after his aunt shoved him into Lake Michigan has passed away.
Online records that PEOPLE was able to access show that Josiah Brown was declared dead on Sunday morning at around 10:15. The reason of death for Josiah is not specified in the records. The Des Plaines youngster, also known as JoJo to his family, was shoved into the lake from Navy Pier, a popular tourist site in Chicago.

Authorities claim that Victoria Moreno, his aunt, pushed Josiah, causing him to fall more than six feet into the water. Victoria Moreno is 34 years old. Officials, according to PEOPLE, said she observed the youngster slowly disappear from view as he sank from the pier. Later, it was claimed that Moreno denied knowing Josiah. After 30 minutes in the ocean, divers managed to save the boy’s life. He was in cardiac arrest when he was taken to the hospital.
Official charges against Moreno include attempted first-degree murder and criminal violence on a child. Considering that the youngster has already passed away, those charges will probably be increased. She will probably be asked to enter a plea when she returns to court on September 30.
Her public defender could not be reached for comment Monday. Moreno remains in custody without bail. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched online by Josiah’s godmother.
