The Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is currently in the Savannah region of the country on a tour. This comes months after President Akufo-Addo also toured many parts of the country. Dr. Bawumia is in the of MP for Damongo, Abu Jinapor, Dominic Nitiwul the Minister for Defense, Minister for Interior Ambrose Dery among a number of high ranking officials.
While being received by the Bolewura, Sarfo Kutuge Feso I, the Vice President briefed the leader of the traditional area about a number of government interventions in the area and how the NPP seeks to do everything possible to transform the lives of the people. Interestingly, the Bolewura reaffirmed a statement he made to Bawumia years ago. He boldly stated that his words still stand and that his victory is a forgone conclusion.
“This is the third time or so that have familiarized yourself with this palace. I gave you one sentence; that victory is a forgone conclusion. So victory for you is a forgone conclusion” the Bolewura said
The NPP national congress to elect a flagbearer is yet to come off but many anticipate a two-way race between trade minister, Alan Kyerematen and dr. Bawumia. Some say Dr. Bawumia’s position and affluence in the north is one reason why he is the right person to lead the NPP in the elections of 2024. Some of the opposition also argue that Bawumia’s performance is obvious based on what he and Akufo-Addo promised prior 2016 and what they have actually done.
Is it a foregone conclusion for Bawumia to win election 2024 or the Bolewura was just flattering Bawumia and will do the same if John Mahama also visited him. In 2020 the Bolewura installed John Mahama as the Chief of Truth. Have the NPP and Bawumia done enough to break the 8? Can Bawumia beat Alan and Kennedy Agyapong for the NPP flagbearer race?
